Joining the JET set
LSJ graduate Daniel James Bentham [2009] is aiming to join the 2010 Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) programme as an assistant language teacher.
Kanpai…
JET, a scheme set up by the Japanese Government to improve foreign language teaching in schools and promote international understanding, is in its 22nd year.
It will be accepting applications for next year’s positions between October and November.
Travelling to work
LSJ graduate Sadie Geoghegan [2009] has joined travel company Thomas Cook’s e-commerce department as a Content and Editorial Executive.
Sadie will be writing articles and building the websites for Thomas Cook and all its other brands such as Direct Holidays, My Travel, etc.
Work experience
She got the job after getting involved in a work experience project set up by another LSJ graduate, Katie Bond, now Content and Editorial Manager at Thomas Cook.
Katie visited the LSJ last year to run the project for students who wanted to work as travel writers. Sadie joined in, worked hard, and it paid off.
LSJ graduate signs for Notts County
LSJ graduate [2009] Dane Vincent has signed for Notts County – though he’ll be working on the web rather than on the pitch.
He starts tomorrow (October 6) as the club’s new media manager.
Dane’s job will be producing content for the web site, and dealing with press enquiries.
Wold service
LSJ graduate [2009] Jamie Bradley has just finished a promo film about Lincolnshire Wolds market town, Louth, for East Lindsey District Council. There may be more work like this in the pipeline.

Screen writes
LSJ graduate [2006] Michael Beddoes will be doing the film industry news for www.screenjabber.com from this week on. Here’s his first review.

- Michael starts a Masters in Producing for Film and TV at Royal Holloway on September 24th.
- He’s co-writing, producing and directing a short called “Split Ends”, based on a stage play that went to the Edinburgh Festival. Pre-production has already started, and the aim is to shoot the film before Christmas.
- Michael is also in early discussions with an established American producer about developing a script he wrote into a US TV pilot.
